Unique Student Identifier

USI – bringing your skills together

An IST student with a bright smile is seated at a desk in a classroom, wearing a cozy striped sweater. She's holding a pen and appears to be actively engaged in her studies, with a laptop and notes on the desk in front of her. The soft blue background creates a calm and focused educational environment.

To commence a course with Industry Skills Training you will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a national student number that allows individuals to see their training records and results from all providers, including all completed training units and qualifications in a single space.

Each account is linked to the National Vocational Education and Training (VET) Data Collection. This means you will be able to locate, collate and authenticate your VET achievements into one transcript.

As of 1st January 2015 the creation and use of USI is a government requirement for all students enrolling in a qualification.

Creating a USI only takes a few minutes, Industry Skills Training can assist you with this process upon enrolment or alternatively you can apply for a USI via the Australian Governments website.
